GRAPHIC: Shahd 5 years old killed

The clashes between Saleh's forces and Al-Ahmar troops that were happening the past couple of days in Hasaba resulted in the deaths of many people.

Shad was reported to be killed by Saleh's forces attacks on Sadeq Ahmar's men in the area.  An only child in her family, she was five years old . Our staff at Yemen Rights Monitor express our greatest condolences to her family. As a tribute to her, we have a few photos of her living. Unfortunately we also have photos to record her death. Maybe one day in the future, we'll ask her family to record her dreams

 May Shad rest in peace.

  2. We must keep in mind that the spirit lives on...this beautiful child's life was not in vain... her spirit will remain close to her parents and hopefully they will feel her presence. I can't think of any else to give them hope. I can't think of anything to give the human race hope. We are the most awful species on Earth.

  6. It is hard to understand evil and the loss of a beautiful child. Let us hope that justice will prevail: that the veils of lies that have been fed to the Arab world will be unveiled and that the Yemeni people will have the strength to go forward and bring themselves into the modern family of nations.

  8. Bone chilling - an other Angel killed, for WHAT!?!? When will men realize, they kill for evil men's agendas, not for any other reason - for their money/power/mineral hungry egos.... what is there to gain in killing the children of Mothers & Fathers, whether 5 months, 5years, 15 years or 50years.wrong, wrong, wrong!

  9. How many children will have to be tortured, abused, mutilated and killed before these monsters are removed from power ? I think of my own sweet child who is now grown and if someone should harm her even today, they would have to answer to my wrath ! May God have mercy on us all, and bring about the downfall of these evil people! Power to the People! Blessings to the families who cry for their precious children. This one was so sweet. <3

  14. My grandparents left Syria and came to US so my heart aches even more for the people of Syria and I feel so frustrated that all we can do is watch from afar. Stay strong, there is strength in numbers, you will overcome.

  17. I have a little girl of the same age. I cannot imagine what her parents must be feeling. I really pray Yemen finds peace soon enough or else more precious innocent lives like this will be lost.

  18. Ending ...sexism and including women fully in every aspect of society not only ends its own great evil--the oppression of women--but also is part of the solution to the rest of the world's problems. Until women are deeply involved in opposing the violence in the world, we are not going to bring it to an end. All women must be equally at the forefront of the movements for social justice. And they also have a special leverage over the men in their lives, who often perpetuate death while women are left creating life. But women can say, "We have had enough of this business. If you keep going out to fight and kill, we're not going to have anything to do with you." It is tremendous that women are increasingly taking on positions of leadership, but they must not simply settle for business as usual. They have the potential--if they have the courage--to transform the institutions they are inheriting and to make them more humane and more just. Unleashing the power of women has the potential to transform our world in extraordinary and many as yet unimagined ways. . . .

  19. The photos stress the urgency of this situation. I wonder what experiences "one less suicide bomber" commenter has encountered that he/she would endorse the killing of a young child in her own backyard? Is it the assumption that the child will grow up to kill others? Or just a hatred for the people? Or has he/she lost a loved one? I am trying to understand.

  22. I have a niece Shahd's age with the same expressive eyes. That her beautiful soul should become a casualty in this fight for freedom is inevitable, I suppose. Many sympathies to her family. I hope her murder reminds us all how fragile life and freedom are.

  24. Shahd was a beautiful & innocent little girl. This is the greatest loss a parent can feel - the death of a child - moreover, a death such as this. My heart overflows with sorrow & sympathy for the family. My heart goes out to her family. Remember, her spirit is alive and always in your heart.
